"The Boats of the Glen Carrig" presents a dense, immersive soundscape typical of Ahab's funeral doom style. The production is rich and layered, with a heavy emphasis on down-tuned guitars that create a crushing, monolithic atmosphere. Tracks like "The Isle" and "Like Red Foam (The Great Storm)" feature slow, deliberate tempos that enhance the weighty textures, while haunting melodies intertwine with growled vocals, evoking a sense of despair and isolation. The use of ambient soundscapes and subtle keyboard elements adds depth, particularly in "The Weedmen," where ethereal tones contrast with the heaviness. Overall, the album's distinctive blend of crushing riffs and atmospheric elements crafts a haunting maritime journey.
