"my own mess" by Skegss presents a vibrant blend of surf rock and garage punk, characterized by gritty guitar riffs and punchy rhythms. The production is raw yet polished, capturing an energetic, youthful spirit throughout its tracks. Songs like "Up In The Clouds" and "Road Trip" feature jangly guitars and driving tempos, while "Couch Potato" introduces a more laid-back vibe, showcasing dynamic shifts in energy. The album's textures range from fuzzy, distorted sounds to clearer melodic lines, creating a sense of contrast. Tracks such as "Paradise" and "Midnight Eye" highlight catchy hooks and anthemic choruses, making the album distinctive in its ability to balance carefree exuberance with introspective moments.
