Description: Umber is the first full-length album by the American post-hardcore band Bitch Magnet. The band had added second guitarist David Gait since their previous year's release, the eight-song EP Star Booty. In 2004 Umber was listed in Mojo's "Lost Albums You Must Own". Umber was first released in 1989 on LP by Glitterhouse Records with an all yellowish-umber colored cover with the band's name and album title set in a small bold font at its center. The record's 10 tracks were paired with the band's previous eight-song EP, Star Booty, and issued by Communion on cassette and CD that same year. In 2011, Umber was remastered by Alan Douches and released in a box-set containing with the rest of the band's catalog.

Artist Background: Bitch Magnet was an American post-hardcore band who formed in 1986 at Oberlin College in Ohio and later moved to North Carolina. They released their first record in 1988. All of the band's full-length albums were released on Communion Records in the US; they were also signed to the European labels Shigaku/What Goes On and Glitterhouse. The band disbanded in 1990. Frontman Sooyoung Park later formed the band Seam with Mac McCaughan (of Superchunk) and Lexi Mitchell. Post-Seam, Park also played... Part of the Oberlin, Ohio, USA music scene. Emerged in the 1980s era. Associated with Post-Hardcore movement.
