Hasta la raíz

If you were near a radio in the summer of 2015, you probably fell in love with Natalia LaFourcade's smash single "Hasta la Raiz (To the Root)." Inspired by a romantic breakup, the song begins with a half-whispered vocal over gentle percussion and builds to a heavenly, string-driven finale. Always quirky and stylish, LaFourcade matches playful arrangements with classic pop melody: "Mi Lugar Favorito" recalls Beck's use of loops and samples, while "Ya No Te Puedo Querer" evokes the quiet elegance of vintage bossa nova.
