"One Vice at a Time" showcases a robust hard rock sound characterized by gritty guitar riffs and powerful, anthemic choruses. The production is polished yet retains a raw edge, typical of early '80s metal, allowing the dynamic interplay between the driving rhythms and soaring vocals to shine. Tracks like "Long Stick Goes Boom" and "American Woman" feature aggressive tempos and energetic performances, while the instrumentation is layered with thick guitar harmonies and punchy drums. The album's textures range from the gritty, blues-infused rock of "Bad Boys, Rag Dolls" to the more melodic, soaring elements in "Save Me." This blend of high energy and catchy hooks makes it a distinctive entry in the genre.
