"In a Different Light" showcases Everclear's signature blend of alternative rock and pop, characterized by polished production and catchy melodies. The album features a mix of upbeat tracks like "Everything to Everyone" and "Santa Monica," driven by jangly guitars and steady drum rhythms that create an energetic atmosphere. The instrumentation often layers bright guitar riffs with rich bass lines, while the vocal delivery remains emotive and engaging. Slower tracks like "Here Comes the Darkness" introduce a more introspective tone, utilizing atmospheric textures that contrast with the more vibrant songs. Overall, the album maintains a cohesive sound, balancing anthemic choruses with thoughtful lyrics, making it a distinctive entry in the band's catalog.
