"Return to Santa Monica" showcases Everclear's signature blend of alternative rock and pop, characterized by polished production and catchy melodies. The album features a mix of upbeat tracks like "Santa Monica" and "I Will Buy You a New Life," driven by jangly guitars and vibrant rhythms, creating an energetic atmosphere. Slower ballads such as "Wonderful" and "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" introduce a more introspective texture, with layered instrumentation that enhances emotional depth. The inclusion of covers like "The Joker" and "Every Breath You Take" adds a nostalgic twist, while the overall sound remains crisp and radio-friendly. The album's distinctiveness lies in its seamless transitions between high-energy anthems and reflective moments, maintaining a cohesive sonic identity.
