JYP Entertainment K-pop girl group TWICE play a numbers game, and it’s a good thing their equation is a winner: TWICE fans are called ONCE, they boast nine members (Momo, Sana, Mina, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Dahyun, Jihyo, Chaeyoung, Tzuyu) and their second full-length studio album, Eyes wide open, is ’80s and ’90s melancholy—their most enterprising release since debuting in 2015. “I CAN’T STOP ME” is revisionist ’80s pop-funk that could sit comfortably on Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia (notably, Lipa co-wrote the album closer, the ecstatic synth coda “BEHIND THE MASK”). Staccato riffs and rhythms introduce “HELL IN HEAVEN”, easing into the buzzing EDM of “BRING IT BACK”, the Euro-pop-meets-’90s-club of “BELIEVER” and the marching band arena anthem “SHOT CLOCK”.

"Perfect World" by TWICE is a vibrant J-Pop album that showcases the group's signature polished production style. The album is characterized by its high-energy tracks that blend infectious pop melodies with intricate electronic textures. The production is sleek and modern, featuring a mix of punchy synths, crisp percussion, and dynamic bass lines that drive the tempo forward. Each track is meticulously layered, creating a rich sonic tapestry that is both engaging and danceable. The album's sound is distinctive for its ability to seamlessly integrate catchy hooks with complex arrangements, maintaining a lively and upbeat atmosphere throughout. TWICE's vocal harmonies add an additional layer of depth, enhancing the album's overall energetic and polished feel.

twicetagram might open with a social-media love anthem ("LIKEY"), but the girls aren't just about posting for the 'gram. They coax a lover out of his shell on "TURTLE", surprise themselves by falling in love on "WOW" and yearn for adult relationships in "FFW", all over the addictive blend of swooshing synthesisers and cheery samples that form their uplifting dance pop. The sensational girl group's unique perspective may be best summed up in standout "24/7", a stomping empowerment cut about not letting constant phone notifications affect your attitude.

So long Sasha Fierce. Queen Bey goes back to the future with a fourth album that trades some of her strutting blockbusters for timeless mid-tempo finger-snappers (“Love On Top”) and slow-burning ballads (“1+1”, “Best Thing I Never Had”). Not that 4 is in any way a banger-free zone. “Party” packs squelchy 90s soul and the Major Lazer-sampling “Run the World (Girls)” totally brings the house down.

Album: ENEMY by TWICE (2025)
Genre: J-Pop
Record Label: WARNER MUSIC JAPAN INC.
Format: Album

Description: TWICE gained wider global recognition in the summer of 2025 following their feature on the smash-hit soundtrack for KPop Demon Hunters, but the real-life girl group known for bops like “TT”, “What Is Love?”, “FANCY” and “The Feels” was already one of the most successful K-pop acts of all time. Debuting in 2015 out of the idol survival show Sixteeen, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu are popular worldwide for their bright discography, catchy choreo and prolific output. ENEMY, their second full-length album release of 2025, is specifically targeted at Japan, where Korean idol music is a part of the mainstream pop scene and TWICE is incredibly popular. (Three of the group’s members, Momo, Sana and Mina, are from Japan.)

ENEMY is TWICE’s sixth full-length Japanese album, following 2018’s BDZ, 2019’s &TWICE, 2021’s Perfect World, 2022’s Celebrate and 2024’s DIVE. The album’s rock-infused title track stretches the boundaries of TWICE’s self-described “colour pop” sound while still fitting seamlessly into the group’s tradition of self-empowerment songs. “Even a flower cannot bloom without swaying,” members Dahyun and Chaeyoung rap in Japanese on the second verse of the pop-rock song about persisting through hardship.

Though ENEMY flirts with other sounds across its nine tracks—like cheerful summer bop (“Up to you”), laidback electropop (“FINE”), meandering jazz-pop (“Love is more”) and sweet acoustic ballad (“Glow”)—it returns to J-rock for album-ender “Like 1”, a sentimental song composed by Taku and Toru, members of the veteran Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK. The track’s lyrics were written by TWICE leader Jihyo, leaving listeners on a poignant, ambiguous note: “Know there will come a time/For a bittersweet salute (I wanna)/Stay in this moment now/But we don’t get to choose.”

Album: THIS IS FOR by TWICE (2025)
Genre: K-Pop
Record Label: WM Japan
Format: Album

Description: In their first decade as a nine-member K-pop girl group, TWICE became masters at exploring new facets of their concept without ever losing the unwavering cheerfulness that defines it. For THIS IS FOR, TWICE’s fourth full-length album since their 2015 debut, the third-generation squad slides into a comparatively subdued cool-girl persona to explore overlapping themes of female empowerment and romantic frustration, artfully navigating the space between K-pop’s “girl crush” and “bubblegum pop” false binary.

The cool-girl persona is especially on display in THIS IS FOR’s title track, a high-energy song that starts with a chuckle and a shout-out: “This is for all my ladies who don’t get hyped enough/If you’ve been done wrong, then this your song, so turn it up.” TWICE makes room for feelings of otherness on “THIS IS FOR” before using the synth-pop bop “MARS” to expand on the theme: “Do you ever feel like/You don’t belong in the world?” The tale of tested confidence continues in the rolling rhythms of “G.O.A.T.,” a subunit song that has members Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung comparing themselves to a phoenix rising from the ashes in the aftermath of a breakup: “Got me on a roll, yeah, I breathe fire/Try to bring me low but I go higher.”

Released in TWICE’s 10th year as a K-pop group and in the immediate aftermath of the JYP Entertainment squad’s successful contributions to the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, THIS IS FOR sees the group also preparing for their This Is For world tour. The 14-track, mostly English-language album includes five subunit songs that fit particularly well into a high-energy set list as an opportunity for non-participating members to rest. In addition to “G.O.A.T.,” they include “BATTITUDE” (Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, and Mina), “DAT AHH DAT OOH” (Sana, Jihyo, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu), “LET LOVE GO” (Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, and Tzuyu), and “TALK” (Nayeon and Jihyo).

Album: TEN: The Story Goes On by TWICE (2025)
Genre: K-Pop
Record Label: JYP Entertainment
Format: Album

Description: A decade after their debut into the K-pop scene, girl group TWICE celebrated their resilience with TEN: The Story Goes On. While the 10-track album is mostly composed of solo tracks from the JYP Entertainment group’s nine members (Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu), it is tied together by lead single “ME+YOU”, a sentimental, ’90s-R&B-influenced track that expresses deep gratitude to their global fandom.

TWICE are known for bubblegum pop, but TEN: The Story Goes On’s solo songs demonstrate the ways in which the group has increasingly reached beyond that style. In Jeongyeon’s “FIX A DRINK”, the singer embraces country music to nurse a broken heart, while Chaeyoung’s “IN MY ROOM” uses dreamy UK garage to rhapsodise the freedom of being in one’s own personal space. Dahyun’s “CHESS” samples Beethoven’s “Für Elise” for its story of learned manipulation.

KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack scribe EJAE has credits on Jihyo’s “ATM”, an R&B-influenced track about the idol’s addictive charisma, while Mina and Tzuyu are demanding more from lovers on “STONE COLD” and “DIVE IN”, respectively. Momo’s “MOVE LIKE THAAT” and Sana’s “DECAFFEINATED” stay in the moment in their dual explorations of hypnotic attraction, while the confident sensuality expressed on Nayeon’s “MEEEEEE” is more reflective in nature.
