Album: Red, Black & Green by Roy Ayers Ubiquity (1973)
Genre: Jazz
Format: Album

Description: This powerhouse collection of covers and originals, penned by vibraphonist Roy Ayers as well as his talented Ubiquity bandmates and recorded in Jimi Hendrix's famed Electric Ladyland Studios, aimed to put bodies in motion. Ayers elevates Bill Withers' sombre "Ain't No Sunshine" into a swinging groove; later, with a flourish of strings and gentle tempo, he emphasises the intimacy of Aretha Franklin's "Day Dreaming". That's Ayers singing and scatting on keyboardist Edwin Birdsong's fiery title track, an anthem of black liberation.

Description: He's Coming is all about the way vibraphonist Roy Ayers conjures up moods through his jazz-funk grooves. Album: Mystic Voyage by Roy Ayers Ubiquity (1975)
Genre: Jazz
Record Label: Polydor
Format: Album

Description: As the '70s progressed, so did vibraphonist Roy Ayers’ Ubiquity ensemble, a band that capably infused jazz with funk (and vice versa), found the soul in disco and generally navigated the pop music landscape with a fusionist’s eye for connection. One of two albums the ensemble released in 1975, Mystic Voyage packages the tightly written, handclap-backed "Life Is Just a Moment, Pt. 2" and the sauntering, bass-heavy, group-sung "A Wee Bit" alongside the exploratory, spacious, and synthy "Take All the Time You Need" and the hard-hitting "Spirit of Doo Do".
