Album: Global Warning by Jon Oliva's Pain (2008)
Genre: Heavy Metal | Style: Metal
Record Label: AFM Records
Format: Album

Description: Global Warning is a 2008 release by Jon Oliva's Pain. It is the band's third studio release. The record reached number 11 in the German MRC Rock Radio Charts during March 2008.

On February 7, 2008, the initial track list of the album was posted at the band's forums. On February 8, five song samples from said track list were posted on the band's MySpace page. In support of the album, the band announced a tour of the United States and Europe, with support on the European dates coming from Manticora and Masterstroke. The US tour was scheduled with support from Circle II Circle and Manticora. The tour with both JOP and CIIC would mean that Jon Oliva and Zachary Stevens were on the same bill for the first time since Savatage's 1999 tour.

The record features a guest appearance by Ralph Santolla on two tracks: "Adding the Cost" and "You Never Know". The track "Before I Hang" is made up of two previous Savatage songs—the original "Before I Hang" (of which a demo was released on The Dungeons Are Calling Silver Edition in 2002) as well as Streets lost track "Larry Elbows". The album also features a tribute to the band's former producer, Greg Marchak, who died prior to the album's release, entitled "O to G".

Album: 'Tage Mahal by Jon Oliva's Pain (2004)
Genre: Heavy Metal | Style: Metal
Record Label: SPV GmbH
Format: Album

Description: 'Tage Mahal is a 2004 release by Jon Oliva's Pain. It was the first non-Savatage related release by Jon Oliva since 1994's Doctor Butcher.

Ironically, just like Savatage, the band faced a problem with its name. Oliva originally wanted to call the band 'Tage Mahal, as a homage to Savatage, although Oliva admits he could have called the band "Savatage, or Jon Oliva's Savatage, or Savatage Lite, but I didn't do that out of respect for the guys that were in Savatage."

Prior to the album's release, Oliva discovered a blues musician Taj Mahal. Under the Consumer Confusion law, the album would have been pulled off the shelves, despite the 'Tage spelling. Instead of holding the record up thinking of a new title, Oliva instructed SPV to simply swap the titles around.

Oliva noted the album was "received great, but it sold shit because the record company didn't do anything with it" because Oliva believes the label wanted a new Savatage record, but both Oliva and long-time producer, Paul O'Neill said no. As a result, on the band's 2006 and 2007 tours, the band has not performed songs from the album as part of their set.

The only song on the album not credited solely to Oliva, "The Nonsensible Ravings of the Lunatic Mind", which was co-written by Savatage guitarist Chris Caffery, is an outtake from Savatage's most recent release, 2001's Poets and Madmen.

Album: Maniacal Renderings by Jon Oliva's Pain (2006)
Genre: Heavy Metal | Style: Metal
Record Label: AFM Records
Format: Album

Description: Maniacal Renderings is a 2006 release by Jon Oliva's Pain. It was their first full-length studio recording released for new label AFM Records.

The album features material and riffs recorded by Jon Oliva's late brother, Criss. Jon said that he moves around a lot and his wife found a box of old cassette tapes inside a shoebox, with Criss's handwriting on it. Jon said that during their days in Savatage, the two would write, practice and record music, then swap so they could finish each other's songs. He stated that there is plenty of material from the box that could be used in future works.
