Holy Other

Holy Other

Biography

Holy Other made his debut on the underground electro scene by infusing his first EP, 'We Over,' released by Transparent Records. An album that immediately showcases the producer's style: cavernous bass, abstract sounds, reverberating swirls, and a skillful blend of dubstep and R&B. Originally from Manchester, but living between Berlin, Gothenburg (Sweden), and Manchester, Holy Other cultivates the art of anonymity, never revealing his real name, concealing his face on album artwork, and performing hooded during concerts. Labeled as a witch house artist, the producer prefers to self-proclaim as shy rather than justify any belonging to the movement, let alone to this post-modern attitude that enjoys shrouding artists' identities to create buzz. Holy Other belongs to this kind of artist with an intimate and egotistic universe and enjoys recreating the atmosphere of his room on stage to feel comfortable enough to perform in public. In 2010, he released a second EP and signed with Tri-Angle (Clams Casino, Blam Acab, oOoOO, etc.), one of the hippest labels of the decade. Holy Other gradually emerges from the shadows and becomes known to a niche audience and other genre specialists, who don't hesitate to compare his productions to those of Burial and James Blake. Other's career is launched, and at the end of his American tour alongside Amon Tobin, he unveils his first album (August 2012) titled 'Held': a blend of post-dubstep, R&B, ambient, and atmospheric electro.
