"Tears of the Valedictorian" showcases a rich tapestry of sound that blends lo-fi aesthetics with ambitious arrangements. The production is marked by a raw, unpolished quality, allowing the emotive vocal delivery to shine through. Instrumentation features jangly guitars, dynamic percussion, and layered synths, creating a dense yet inviting sonic landscape. Tracks like "Idle Songs" and "Caravan Breakers" oscillate between frenetic energy and contemplative moments, while "Evil Energy, the Ill Twin of..." introduces a haunting, almost surreal texture. The album's tempo varies, with some tracks driving forward with urgency, while others linger in reflective melancholy. This juxtaposition of energy and texture makes the album distinctive within the indie genre.
