I had to find another way. And so what I was doing was recording all the instruments myself, one by one, and trying to create the feeling of a band — and in the meantime, perhaps this is one of the reasons the record is quite joyous. I had such a good time doing it. It was really fun to try and live my lifelong dream of being a drummer and then structuring each piece of the record one-by-one until it sounded like a song or it sounded like an album."

The only song on the album that has never been released as a single is "Kids Wanna Rock" from 1994's Reckless, which replaced "One Night Love Affair", taken from the same album. Although the latter had been released as a single in 1985, charting in Canada and Japan, 'Kids Wanna Rock" proved to be a popular live staple during Adams' world tours. In fact, various live recordings of "Kids Wanna Rock" were issued as B-sides between 1984 and 1992. Other notable singles that were left off include 1987's "Hearts on Fire" and "Victim of Love", the moderately successful "Thought I'd Died and Gone to Heaven" from 1991, and the 1992 US single "Touch the Hand". Early versions of the album had a circular black sticker on the jewelcase, covering the wheel, featuring the text "The Best of Bryan Adams" in red letters. Also, the album cover was available in different colour schemes, varying from dark green, to light brown and bright orange. The album has been repackaged several times; some versions included the singles "All for Love" from 1994 or "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" from 1995.

Description: Bryan Adams was the self-titled debut solo album by Canadian rock singer Bryan Adams released in February 1980 on A&M Records. While the album did not gain attention in the US, "Hidin' From Love" reached #64 and "Give Me Your Love" reached #91 both on Canada's RPM 100 Singles chart. In early 1978, Bryan Adams teamed up with Jim Vallance (formerly of Canadian band Prism) to form a song-writing duo. A&M signed the pair as songwriters, not long before signing Adams as a recording artist. He worked on his debut album for the balance of 1979 with it being released in February 1980.
The first single was "Hidin' from Love" in 1980 (#43 on the Billboard dance charts) which was followed up by "Give Me Your Love" and "Remember". Although the album never received any US notoriety on its debut, it was the door opener that led to getting radio play, tours, management, agents and the music business in general, interested in the 20 year old songwriter.
The first tour was across Canada playing clubs and colleges. It was during this time that Adams developed the songs for the US breakthrough album You Want It You Got It (1981).

Bryan Adams was the self-titled debut solo album by Canadian rock singer Bryan Adams released in February 1980 on A&M Records. While the album did not gain attention in the US, "Hidin' From Love" reached #64 and "Give Me Your Love" reached #91 both on Canada's RPM 100 Singles chart. In early 1978, Bryan Adams teamed up with Jim Vallance (formerly of Canadian band Prism) to form a song-writing duo. A&M signed the pair as songwriters, not long before signing Adams as a recording artist. He worked on his debut album for the balance of 1979 with it being released in February 1980.
The first single was "Hidin' from Love" in 1980 (#43 on the Billboard dance charts) which was followed up by "Give Me Your Love" and "Remember". Although the album never received any US notoriety on its debut, it was the door opener that led to getting radio play, tours, management, agents and the music business in general, interested in the 20 year old songwriter.
The first tour was across Canada playing clubs and colleges. It was during this time that Adams developed the songs for the US breakthrough album You Want It You Got It (1981).

The album was recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios, Vancouver, Canada. On December 12, 2009 the syndicated radio program In the Studio celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the album.
