Album: A Suitable Girl by Ali Barter (2017)
Genre: Alternative
Record Label: Inertia Music
Format: Album

Description: Barter uses her sweet voice and rumbling ‘90s-style indie pop to address relationship drama. Lyrics are conclusions and confessions ripped from coffee and cigarette sessions. “You don’t understand what it’s like to be a man”, she sings on “Girlie Bits”, a song that practically demands a slow clap. Much like Juliana Hatfield or Liz Phair, Barter puts emotion and guitar at the forefront, her voice gliding across melodic terrain. Watch the hairs on your arm stand at attention.
