Artist Background: Anthony Moses Davis (August 22, 1973), better known by his stage name Beenie Man, is a Grammy award winning Jamaican reggae artist. He is the self-proclaimed "King of Dancehall". Davis was born in the Waterhouse district of Kingston in 1973. He was involved in the music industry from a young age, starting toasting at the age of five, and was encouraged by his uncle Sydney Knowles, who played drums for Jimmy Cliff. Beenie Man became a reggae phenomenon in the '90s, but 2000's <i>Art and Life</i> proves his crossover appeal as he teams up with key figures from the rap and R&B worlds. A pulsing Rockwilder remix of "Love Me Now" pairs the King of Dancehall's amped vocals with a rugged Redman verse. Elsewhere, Kelis adds sass to the futuristic, Neptunes-produced "Jamaica Way", and Mýa helps turn "Girls Dem Sugar" into a sexy, shimmering anthem.
