Mansun’s first ever Parlophone release in 1996 started a theme that continued throughout the band’s time together of releasing four-track EPs. This enabled the band to release a huge body of work, rather than being restricted to album campaigns. The lead track 'Egg Shaped Fred' was a live favourite and had a great footage video, showing the band at the very beginning with early band members and performances. The EP was also the first release for fan-favourite B-sides Ski Jump Nose and Lemonade Secret Drinker, together with Thief and an unnamed secret track at the end.
