The self-taught singer-songwriter topped the UK albums chart with her third album, 2024’s <i>This Is How Tomorrow Moves</i>—a pared-down update of her hook-y blend of bedroom pop and alt-rock, co-produced by pop mystic Rick Rubin. Where that album centred around themes of growth and self-realisation, its follow-up, <i>Pylon</i>, finds <b>beabadoobee</b> estranged on the open road, searching for connection. The fourth album from the 26-year-old musician draws its inspiration from grunge, Midwest emo and 1990s radio rock, as evidenced by its run of features: Paramore’s Hayley Williams guest stars on <b>“Nothing to Prove”</b>, Turnstile singer Brendan Yates makes a cameo on <b>“Powerlines”</b> and The 1975’s Matty Healy and George Daniel contribute production work to <b>“Write Me a Letter”</b>, alongside contributions from Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Title Fight’s Shane Moran and Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall. Transmission towers and telephone wires exist as metaphysical forces of connection as beabadoobee cycles between loneliness and contentment.
