The singer who brought us the infectious “Boo’d Up” knows a thing or two about love songs. London singer-songwriter Ella Mai’s third album <i>Do You Still Love Me?</i> is a more grown and sexy project, reflecting on what it’s like to let yourself fall and all that happens after. “There Goes My Heart” and “Somebody’s Son” are full of anticipation: Mai expertly captures the feeling of meeting someone who excites you. She has no idea where it will take her, but those sweet, assured vocals make it clear she’s willing to see what happens. Single “Little Things” exemplifies the mundane parts of intimacy that Mai wants to celebrate; she’s asking about her partner’s day and ready to have a meal waiting for them when they get home. It makes the anger of “Tell Her” that much more real as she makes it clear she needs her lover to step it up, especially when an ex comes calling.
