"The God Slayer" showcases Otep's signature blend of nu-metal and alternative rock, characterized by aggressive guitar riffs and dynamic vocal delivery. The production is polished yet raw, allowing the visceral energy of tracks like "My Violent Appetites" and "Ostracized" to shine through. The instrumentation features heavy, distorted guitars layered with atmospheric synths, creating a dense sonic texture that fluctuates between crushing heaviness and melodic interludes. Songs like "Good 4 U" and "Exit Wounds" maintain a relentless tempo, while "You Should See Me In A Crown" introduces a more subdued, haunting quality. The album's distinctive edge lies in its ability to seamlessly blend aggression with introspection, making each track a compelling exploration of emotional turmoil.
