To Be Cruel" envelops listeners in a dense, suffocating atmosphere characteristic of drone doom and sludge metal. The production is raw yet meticulously layered, allowing the heavy guitar riffs to resonate with a haunting clarity. Each track, such as "Like a Poisoned Dog" and "It Wants to Fly," unfolds at a glacial pace, creating an oppressive weight that lingers in the air. The instrumentation features distorted guitars and deep, resonant bass lines, complemented by sparse yet impactful percussion that punctuates the soundscape. The overall energy is one of relentless tension, with textures that oscillate between bleak and immersive, making the album a distinctive exploration of despair and brutality.
