Infinity

On Infinity, VOCES8 gaze up to the heavens with some breathtakingly beautiful music-making. Cover versions and six original compositions by pioneering artists from the worlds of film, electronic and contemporary classical make for a stunning album. Jon Hopkins’ 2020 piano-and-violin track “Scene Suspended” has been reworked for voices and harp to miraculous effect. Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ólafur Arnalds and Hildur Guðnadóttir weave an Icelandic sensibility through the programme while Luke Howard (a ravishing Emily Dickinson setting), Nainita Desai and Ola Gjeilo add their own strong voices. Atmospherically recorded and imaginatively mixed, this is VOCES8 in top form.
