Control

Brought up on Ella Fitzgerald and Björk, Devon’s Rosie Lowe is equal part enigmatic jazz chanteuse and synth-fond future-proofer. “Run Run Run” gives a good measure of her refined, idiosyncratic vocal styling, while “Who's That Girl?" acts as her sublime calling card. There's creeping, sultry soul on "Worry Bout Us,” while the quietly imploring "Nicole" is oddly catchy for a song about an emotional intervention and "Control” is a thunderously sexy and very modern slow jam.
