Piano Odyssey is a solo album by Rick Wakeman, former keyboardist with Yes and pianist on some of David Bowie’s greatest songs. Wakeman pays homage to The Six Wives of Henry VIII, his solo release from 1973, with a thrilling new arrangement of the Bach-inspired “Jane Seymour”, and covers considerable musical ground throughout with his orchestra and choir. It’s a showcase not just for his technical talents, but also for his arranging skills, with Wakeman tackling Handel, Dvořák, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”—with a guest appearance from the band's Brian May—The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever”, Liszt and a couple of Yes songs. It’s all delivered with imagination and style.
