A Fever Dream

On their fourth album, Everything Everything retain their thrilling ability to offset creative maximalism with irresistible melody and consuming dance-floor grooves. Opening pair “Night of the Long Knives” and “Can’t Do” instantly reassert that fine balance between accessibility and invention, but there’s a new sense of moderation too. “A Fever Dream” builds layer by layer like a patient, seductive house track, and the meditative “White Whale” finds some optimism in a modern world that horrified the band on 2015’s <i>Get To Heaven</i>.
