The album was inspired by his time working as a ranch hand in Wyoming when he was fifteen years old The album is slated to have twelve songs, none of which have been previously released. Blue Mountain is Weir’s first solo release since Weir Here in 2004, and the first to feature entirely new music in 30 years.

Artist Background: Robert Hall "Bob" Weir (weer born October 16, 1947) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, most recognized as a founding member of the Grateful Dead. After the Grateful Dead disbanded in 1995, Weir performed with The Other Ones, later known as The Dead, together with other former members of the Grateful Dead. Weir also founded and played in several other bands during and after his career with the Grateful Dead, including Kingfish, the Bob Weir Band, Bobby and the Midnites, Scaring ... Associated with Psychedelic Rock movement. Known for Rock/Pop style.
