Underground" presents a raw and aggressive sound characteristic of the death-thrash metal genre. The production is gritty yet polished enough to highlight the intricate guitar work and rapid-fire drumming that drive tracks like "Battle in the Ancient North" and "Revelation of Fire." The album oscillates between blistering tempos and more measured, heavy passages, creating a dynamic listening experience. Textures range from dense, chugging riffs to atmospheric interludes, particularly evident in "The Ballad of Jesus." The vocal delivery is fierce and guttural, complementing the relentless energy throughout. Distinctive for its blend of melodic elements and brutal intensity, "Underground" stands out in the Swiss metal scene of the early '90s.
