Life’s given Casyo “Krept” Johnson and Karl “Konan” Wilson plenty to digest, from chart success and performing with Kanye West to gang strife and the untimely passing of loved ones. Hence the pensive tone of their major-label debut, which processes these experiences with intensity, detail and enough punchlines to lighten the spare, moody beats. Rick Ross and Wiz Khalifa ratchet up the energy on “Certified” and “Do It for the Gang” but the A-list guests are just garnish for two of the UK’s most engaging, expressive MCs.
