"Scratch The Surface" showcases a gritty pop-rock sound characterized by polished production and layered instrumentation. The album features a blend of punchy guitar riffs and synth-driven melodies, creating a vibrant yet textured sonic landscape. Tracks like "Show Me" and "Emerald" present an energetic tempo, while "I'm Not Perfect" and "Handfuls Of Dust" introduce a more introspective, mid-tempo groove. The dynamic range is evident, with anthemic choruses and subtle backing harmonies that enhance the emotional weight of the lyrics. The production is crisp, allowing each instrument to shine, while the overall mood oscillates between upbeat and contemplative, making the album distinctive within its era.
