"Anhedoniac" presents a haunting exploration of sound, characterized by Jarboe's ethereal vocals layered over dense, atmospheric instrumentation. The production leans towards a raw, unpolished aesthetic, allowing the emotional weight of each track to resonate deeply. The album oscillates between slow, brooding tempos in tracks like "Sinner" and "Forever," and more frenetic energy in pieces like "Rage" and "Burnt." Textures range from stark minimalism to rich, enveloping soundscapes, often incorporating dissonant elements that evoke a sense of unease. The juxtaposition of haunting melodies and abrasive sonic moments creates a distinctive listening experience, making "Anhedoniac" a compelling dive into the darker realms of experimental music.
