Dutch electro-house producer Hardwell knows that EDM success is all about maximum dancefloor impact. His fifth studio album, <i>United We Are</i>, certainly features its share of club-ready anthems. Tracks like “Echo” and “Don’t Stop the Madness” are floor-fillers built on the same massive riffs and party-starting vocals that made Hardwell a festival draw worldwide. But <i>United We Are</i> is also a bit of a departure for this biggest of “big room” DJs. He blends swooning dance-pop into “Follow Me”, which features a hands-in-the-air guest vocal from R&B star Jason Derulo, and he slows things down with the hazy downtempo sway of “Birds Fly”, a collaboration with soulful house singer Mr. Probz.
