One of the band’s most extensive anthologies, <i>Ikons</i> surrounds their classic hits with loads of excellent deep cuts showcasing vintage Kiss’ songwriting talents. On Gene Simmons’ “Almost Human”, Beatles-esque harmonies skate across drilling riffs and funk percussion, and Paul Stanley’s “I Stole Your Love” is nasty hard rock that hits like a punch to the gut. You’ll also encounter tunes like Peter Criss’ “Easy Thing”, which shows how the drummer’s gift for soft and tender rock ballads extends well beyond “Beth”.
