Onwards" showcases a rich tapestry of sound that blends power and progressive metal with a distinctly female vocal presence. The production is polished, allowing for a clear separation of instrumentation, which includes soaring guitars, intricate drumming, and atmospheric keyboards. Tracks like "Spitfire" and "Gunnin' for Glory" exhibit a driving energy with rapid tempos and dynamic shifts, while "Lament" and "Twilight" introduce more introspective moments, featuring lush textures and emotive melodies. The album's multipart structure, particularly in the closing tracks, adds a sense of narrative depth, creating a journey through contrasting sonic landscapes. Overall, "Onwards" stands out for its blend of aggression and melody, wrapped in a high-quality production that enhances its dramatic flair.
