"Soul Food" presents a raw, garage rock sound characterized by gritty guitar riffs and lo-fi production that captures the essence of the mid-90s underground scene. The album features a mix of driving tempos and slower, more contemplative tracks, creating a dynamic listening experience. The instrumentation is straightforward, often relying on distorted guitars, punchy drums, and occasional organ accents that add depth to the mix. Tracks like "Viet Nam War Blues" and "Big Black Hole" showcase a frenetic energy, while others, such as "Sunday You Need Love," offer a more subdued, reflective quality. The album's distinctive texture lies in its unpolished aesthetic, evoking a sense of authenticity and urgency that resonates throughout its 11 tracks.
