"Old Traditions, New Standards" showcases Tullycraft's signature blend of lo-fi pop and jangly indie rock, characterized by bright, melodic guitar lines and playful, upbeat tempos. The production embraces a raw, DIY aesthetic, allowing the vibrant instrumentation—often layered with catchy hooks and harmonized vocals—to shine through. Tracks like "Superboy & Supergirl" and "Pop Songs Your New Boyfriend's Too Stupid to Know About" exude a youthful energy, while the whimsical lyrics add a charming narrative quality. The album's textures range from the buoyant, sun-soaked vibes of "Willie Goes to the Seashore" to the more introspective moments in "Wish I'd Kept a Scrapbook," creating a distinctive contrast that captures the essence of early 2000s indie pop.
