After the goth pop of her debut <i>True Romance</i>, <i>Sucker</i> sees London's pop queen embrace the classic sounds of teen rebellion. “Sucker” and “Break the Rules” could double as bratty cheerleader chants, while “London Queen” channels the Ramones’ cool, and “Hanging Around” evokes “We Will Rock You”. XCX’s prevailing mood is unstoppable, though her heartfelt ballads are just as convincing: “Need Ur Love” mines girl-group innocence and “Boom Clap” reflects new love’s sugar rush.
