Description: "Sewn to the Sky" is the debut album by Smog (the alias of Bill Callahan), released in 1990 on Disaster Records. It was later re-released on Drag City and manifested Smog's importance for the lo-fi music in the early 1990s. This highly experimental album combined home recording, substandard instruments and repetitive and noisy songwriting structures for what was later called the pioneering of the lo-fi genre. The liner notes stated it was recorded on a "dumpster Portastudio".

Artist Background: " Smog" is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, real name William Rahr Callahan, who began working in the lo-fi genre of underground rock, with home-made tape-albums recorded on four track tape recorders. Later he began releasing albums with the label Drag City, to which he remains signed today. Smog started out as a highly experimental artist, using substandard instruments and recording equipment.
