"School Days" showcases a vibrant fusion of jazz fusion and funk, characterized by intricate bass lines and dynamic instrumentation. The title track opens with a lively tempo, featuring sharp rhythms and a rich tapestry of electric piano and brass that set a high-energy tone. "Quiet Afternoon" contrasts this with a more contemplative, smooth texture, allowing for a softer exploration of melody. The album maintains a playful yet sophisticated energy, particularly in tracks like "Hot Fun," where syncopated grooves and layered harmonies create an inviting atmosphere. Overall, the production is polished, emphasizing clarity in each instrument while allowing the bass to drive the narrative, making it a distinctive entry in the genre.
