"Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous" showcases a gritty yet smooth sonic landscape, characteristic of mid-'90s East Coast hip-hop. The production features a blend of jazzy samples and hard-hitting drum patterns, creating a dynamic backdrop for Big L's sharp lyricism. Tracks like "MVP" and "Put It On" exemplify a confident, laid-back energy, while "Danger Zone" and "Street Struck" introduce a more aggressive tempo, layering intricate beats with a raw edge. The instrumentation is rich, often incorporating soulful melodies that contrast with the stark realities depicted in the lyrics. This album stands out for its seamless fusion of street narratives and polished production, making it a quintessential piece of urban hip-hop.
