"Shell Kids" presents a vibrant blend of indie pop and rock, characterized by its lush instrumentation and polished production. The album features a mix of upbeat tempos and mellow grooves, creating a dynamic listening experience. Tracks like "On the Sofa" and "Just Call It R'n'r" showcase jangly guitars and catchy hooks, while "The Sheltering Sky" offers a more atmospheric sound with layered synths and expansive textures. The energy fluctuates throughout, with songs like "Turn It Up" radiating infectious enthusiasm, contrasted by the reflective mood of "Summer's End."
