Two sessions on May 11, 1956 and October 26 in the same year resulted in four albums: this one, Relaxin' with The Miles Davis Quintet, Workin' with The Miles Davis Quintet and Cookin' with the Miles Davis Quintet.

Artist Background: Bebop quintet, active during the years 1955-1957. Consisted of Miles Davis, saxophonist John Coltrane, bassist Paul Chambers, drummer Philly Joe Jones and pianist Red Garland. This group also dabbled a few years more, but eventually faded as Miles reformed the group. The product was the new Miles Davis Quintet, commonly known as Miles's "Second Great Quintet". This group included all new members: saxophonist Wayne Shorter, bassist Ron Carter, drummer Tony Williams, and pianist Herbie Hancock.... Part of the American music scene. Emerged in the classic era.
