"Phrazes for the Young" showcases a distinctive blend of rock and pop, characterized by its lush, atmospheric production. The album features a rich tapestry of synths and guitars, creating a vibrant sonic landscape that oscillates between upbeat tracks like "11th Dimension" and more introspective moments such as "Ludlow St." The instrumentation is layered, with shimmering keyboards and driving bass lines that enhance the rhythmic pulse. Tracks like "Out of the Blue" exhibit a dynamic tempo, while others, like "River of Brakelights," offer a more subdued energy. The overall texture is polished yet eclectic, with a playful experimentation that sets it apart from typical indie rock, making it a unique listening experience.
