'River Queen' is the story of a young woman's search for identity and love; a woman torn between the two worlds of white colonial New Zealand and native Maori culture. Directed by New Zealander Vincent Ward it stars Samantha Morton, Kiefer Sutherland, Stephen Rea, Cliff Curtis and Temuera Morrison.

The 'River Queen' soundtrack was awarded the prestigious Golden Goblet Award for Best Music at the Shanghai International Film Festival earlier this year.

Artist Background: Karl Jenkins is a Welsh musician and composer. He was born on 17 February, 1944 in, Penclawdd, Glamorgan, Wales. After attending the University of Wales, Cardiff, he began postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music, London, England. It was in jazz that he initially made his mark. In the days of Jazz Polls he was a prolific poll winner, playing at Ronnie Scott's club before co-forming Nucleus, which won first prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival. This was followed by a period with Soft ... Part of the Penclawdd, Glamorgan, Wales music scene. Associated with Classical movement.
