Onyx" envelops the listener in a dense tapestry of atmospheric black metal, characterized by its immersive soundscapes and layered instrumentation. The production is polished yet retains a raw edge, allowing the haunting melodies to intertwine with aggressive riffs. Tracks like "The Song of Hammers" and "Valyrian Steel (Blood of the Dragon)" showcase a dynamic range, oscillating between frenetic tempos and more ambient, introspective passages. The use of ethereal synths alongside traditional black metal elements creates a distinctive contrast, enhancing the album's dark, mystical aura. The overall energy fluctuates, maintaining a gripping intensity while inviting moments of reflection, making "Onyx" a compelling journey through its shadowy realms.
