"Not of This World" showcases Pendragon's signature blend of progressive rock and melodic pop, characterized by lush sonic textures and intricate arrangements. The album features a rich tapestry of keyboards, soaring guitar solos, and dynamic drumming, creating a soundscape that oscillates between passionate ballads and more energetic, rhythmic sections. Tracks like "If I Were the Wind (and You Were the Rain)" and the multi-part "Not of This World" exhibit a cinematic quality, with layered harmonies and atmospheric synths that evoke a sense of grandeur. The acoustic versions of "Paintbox" and "King of the Castle" offer a stripped-down intimacy, contrasting beautifully with the album's more expansive moments, while maintaining a cohesive emotional depth throughout.
