The music of the album was initially composed for a UFO concept album, but Michael Schenker used it for Tales of Rock'n'Roll, after he put together again MSG with new singer Jari Tiura. During the recording of the album all the main past singers of MSG contributed lyrics and vocals to the songs

In 1986, Schenker and vocalist Robin McAuley formed the McAuley Schenker Group, which lasted until 1993. After that, in 1996 the Michael Schenker Group was reformed.
