Description: MTV Unplugged is the first live album by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, released on 29 February 2000, by Columbia Records and Sony Latin. It was recorded on 12 August 1999, during her MTV Unplugged performance at the Grand Ballroom in New York City.

The performance was released in 2000 as a live album, and again in 2002 as a DVD. It is rated as one of the best-ever live performances from a Latin recording artist. It was critically acclaimed by American critics and earned Shakira the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.

Artist Background: Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born February 2, 1977) is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, record producer, choreographer, and model. Born and raised in Barranquilla, she began performing in school, demonstrating Latin, Arabic, and rock and roll influences and belly dancing abilities. Shakira released her first studio albums, Magia and Peligro, in the early 1990s, failing to attain commercial success; however, she rose to prominence in Latin America with her major-label debut, Pies Desc... Part of the Barranquilla, Colombia music scene. Emerged in the 1990s era. Associated with Latin movement. Known for Rock/Pop style.
