Country Boy's Paradise by The Lacs

Country Boy's Paradise

The Lacs

Released: 2010

The Lacs belong to the same hybrid musical style of redneck rapping as Colt Ford, but on Country Boy's Paradise they prove somewhat less accomplished. The story line is the same, as the singer/rappers trace a world of Southern country pride, back roads, pickup trucks, beer, and more beer. But the witticisms aren't as sharp, and neither is the rapping. The Lacs realize the inherent humor in their stance, as they discuss the inebriating effects of "Wild Turkey" and how it can lead to being slapped repeatedly by women and even getting tasered. But that doesn't keep them from lining up twice for their "First Keg Stand," risking life and limb in the name of ingesting beer as fast as possible. Maybe they don't have quite as much perspective on themselves as Ford does, or maybe they just aren't as good performers as he is. Country Boy's Paradise isn't very good country music or very good rap, either, and it isn't amusing enough to cover its weaknesses.
