Department of Apocalyptic Affairs" presents a complex tapestry of sound that intertwines black metal's raw aggression with avant-garde and progressive elements. The production is sharp, allowing the intricate guitar work to shine through layers of atmospheric textures. Tracks like "Exterminators" and "Shotgun Blast" feature a frenetic tempo, driving rhythms, and a mix of harsh and melodic vocals that create a dynamic listening experience. The use of unconventional song structures and varied instrumentation adds depth, with moments of dissonance juxtaposed against melodic passages. The album's distinctive character lies in its ability to blend intensity with experimentation, making it a compelling exploration of post-black metal soundscapes.
