Having risen to the top of the Latin-crossover pops with salsa-influenced sizzlers, Marc Anthony showcases his dramatic range on this 2004 collection of ornate Spanish-language ballads. The sweeping strings on the bereft “Ahora Quien” complement Anthony’s weepy vocal; “Tu Amor Me Hace Bien” uses brisk strumming and a snaking flute to underscore Anthony’s romanticism. And “Escapémonos”, Anthony’s besotted duet with new bride Jennifer Lopez—the pair exchanged vows just before this album’s release—is rich and hopeful, and Lopez showcases her vocal power.
