It is the band's first album on a major label, after they moved from Epitaph Records in June 2008. Akin to their second album, Commit This to Memory (2005), the album was produced by Blink-182 singer-bassist Mark Hoppus. The name of the album comes from a line from the bonus track "Sunny Day".
